12月份核心通脹率（不包括能源、食品、酒精和煙草）為3.2%，與11月份持平，與國家統計局工作地點的最新數據一致。
“Inflation ticked up a little in December, driven partly by higher tobacco prices, following recently-introduced excise duty increases,” 英國國家統計局首席經濟學家格蘭特·菲茨納週三在X上發表評論。
“Airfares also contributed to the increase with prices rising more than a year ago, likely because of the timing of return flights over the Christmas and New Year period. Rising food costs, particularly for bread and cereals, were also an upward driver,” 他補充道。

“If pay growth continues to fall and this is reflected in inflation data, it could place pressure on the Bank of England to cut interest rates faster than expected.
